The Five Seasons philosophy
That wellbeing can be improved by following
the principles of:
1. A holistic approach to health
Health encompasses the psychological, spiritual
and emotional aspects as well as the physical.
2. An emphasis on prevention as opposed
to treatment of sickness
In ancient chinese culture, a doctor would
not be paid if his patients got sick. Prevention is the key
to longterm wellbeing.
3. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle
Diet, exercise, stress, smoking, and alcohol
are the key areas to be addressed in order to maintain health.
Practitioners should maintain a healthy lifestyle themselves.
4. Integration of Chinese and Western medical
principles
Using chinese medicine as the root and western
medicine as the branch
Preventing disease by addressing the root causes (often lifestyle
related).
Applying modern research principles to evaluate safety and
efficacy in chinese medicine.
All conditions treated must have a western medical diagnosis,
or have serious causes excluded.
5. Patient education and responsibility
Knowledge empowers patients to make informed
decisions and take greater responsibility for their own health.
As part of receiving treatment, patients enter into a contract
to make recommended lifestyle changes, to the best of their
ability.
